Hi

I caught this one with my In?s in last Friday at the final afternoon, around 7 pm. The fly was on the ground. I have some ideas about this one, but I prefer, for now, to hear your opinions. :)

EDIT: Title changed from "Ne fly..." to "Phaeomyiidae - Pelidnoptera nigripennis"

Sciomyzidae, perhaps Phaeomyiidae (don't have my key at hand).

Thanks Nikita and Jere and Paul.
WHy the Oops? :D

I will try to find more these Phaeomyiid flies. The biology is similar to sciomyzid, right?
Is this species a parasitoid of millipedes?

Have we in Europe only two species for this family? Pelidnoptera nigripennis and Pelidnoptera fuscipennis?

And Pelidnoptera leptiformis.

I never found a really sciomyzid in this place (see Dalmannia habitat photos). Only I found them in mountains and beaches. But never found them here even with sweeping on the grass. Is it true that these "special" sciomyzids - the Pelidnoptera has nocturnal/crespuscular habits?

Susan, in the last photo... you are seeing a great place for bombyliids where I found some Cyllenia, Usia, Bombylius and others. ;)
Today I found the first Conophorus near that place. :D

Jorge - that habitat certainly looks ideal for Bombylidae. Heaven. We had proper snow here on the outskirts of London too yesterday.

It is not rare to see many bombyliids ovipositing in the path you are seeing in the last photo.

once again...
Today I went to the field a few moments ago with my Ines. And at almost the same hour, in the same place, and almost in the "same" date I have found another Pelidnoptera nigripennis! :) Resting in grass...

Also I have found many ticks this year.... comparing with the last year.
