Excuse me for being this unclear and I guess I am just thinking out loud here.
Appreciate your comment, and I was indeed hoping to extend Mike's key (Rhamphomyia) a bit with updated taxonomic and missing species, but found myself a bit confused early on. And certainly not related to my original post anymore :)
Purely based on our local checklist, which might still be a naïve way to build or extend a key:
https://diptera-i...?fam_id=76
Some species that are listed in the checklist, but are not in Mike's key:
- Rhamphomyia (Aclonempis) eupterota
- Rhamphomyia (Pararhamphomyia) fuscula
- Rhamphomyia (Pararhamphomyia) griseola
- Rhamphomyia (Pararhamphomyia) unguiculata
- Rhamphomyia (Rhamphomyia) argentata
The first confusion already happened when looking at
Rhamphomyia (Aclonempis) eupterota, where the subgenus Aclonempis has been synonymized by the above papers to the genus of Empis. Though, interestingly enough some later authors do not use this new taxonomical change (or explicitly do not accept it in their papers).
Though, admittedly, the taxonomical status does not really matter that much as it still can be keyed out to the subgenus Aclonempis using the available information.
I will see what information I can gather to have a broader information base.
