Hello Forum,

again a fly from the alder marshland in Hagen (D) 175 m above sea level. This photo I took on June 23rd 2007. The plant in the background is Heracleum sphondyleum.

May be it is Cheilosia spec.? Is a closer determination possible?

Best wishes

Josef

I'm fairly sure this is Cheilosia illustrata (someone will tell us if I'm wrong!)

We would like pictures from three angles: above, side view of the whole body and if possible a closer look at the head from the side (and even then, sometimes we cannot make a certain ID) ;)

Hallo Andre,

I will do my best - in the future. The pictures from 2007 all are more or less snapshots. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. And: there is mostly only one picture. Sorry!

For 2008, I learned now by heart and in most cases, I will continue with better and closer pictures from all around the dipteras bodies.

Thank you so far. There are still 3 or 4 Photos of syrphidae from 2007 remaining. Then a better time will come.

Josef
