Hello, I struggle to determine the species of Eristalis, photographed in a peat bog in the Jura (France, July 6, 2022).
My hypothesis were jugorum or picea. For jugorum, the head is perhaps not elongated forward enough, and the hairiness of the femurs is in any case not visible. The face may not be black enough for picea?

Thanks if you can help me.

Since the first segment of t3 is black, I would say Eristalis lineata (= E. horticola).

Thank you.

I had considered this species considering the colors of the face and the pattern of the wing, but the posterior femur seemed to me much too black compared to a figure of Van Veen for the females. I also thought the yellow spots on tergite 2 shiny, but I was never comfortable with the shiny/dull difference

And we thought 3 apicals segments darker than the first 2 (?)

Hello. Another opinion?

For my part, I think that there is a bundle of concordant indices for jugorum (shape of the head, black band of the face, pattern of the wings, the thorax and the abdomen, color of the legs, habitat) even if my photo does not allow to see the characteristic hairs of the femurs.

lineata/horticola seems excluded by the color of the femur, the shape of the head and the black band width of the face.

Hello, before this subject falls into oblivion, can someone who is familiar with Eristalis jugorum tell me if the shape of the head here is ok or if the jizz is not there? Thanks in advance :-)
