Hello,
August 10th 2022 in the south of France.
The fly measures 14 mm in total, from the head to the tip of the wings.
Thank you for your help in identifying it.

From the side, the patterns on the abdomen appear to be tinged with yellow.

But depending on the light and the angle of view the patterns on the abdomen can appear black and white.

Hello Liliane, it's a female Pollenia.

Thank you very much Eric,
After your recent identification of a male Pollenia, I thought it was the female but I thought the thorax patterns were quite different and doubted.

Pollenia sp. are quite tricky as they loose their golden or silver hair with age. So you will find the same species completely bald with only a few hairs on the side of the thorax or with a dense golden/silver fleece.
