Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tabanid #2 from 09.08.22: Tabanus sudeticus? --> confirmed

Hello,

only some centimeters apart from the Heptatoma pellucens I noticed this very large fly (>25 mm) sitting on blackberries at a hedge near a small rivulet (northwest Germany). I could only take two photos, before it flew away. Is an ID possible from this perspective?

P.S.: These big Tabanidae weren't agressive, but while taking photos I was bitten by two Haematopota pluvialis... :@

Yes, that is sudeticus.
