Mechernich-Satzvey (Rhineland / West Germany), 16 July 2022. The last seconds in the life of a black-and-yellow-banded hoverfly collecting water in the warm weather on plants in our garden pond, before it ended up in a frog’s stomach. It had unfortunately landed in the wrong place at the wrong time. I find it difficult to keep the black-and-yellow banded ones apart, although there are some very common ones among them. I would be grateful if you could help me with the identification.

Hello Jürgen,
thank you very much for your help which I appreciate. I'm fully aware of the limitatations of the pictures which, of course, were taken with a different focus than identification, but it's good to get at least as far as genus-level.
Best regards,
Hans Theo
