Hi All,

Please excuse the photos, I'm doing this from home and don't have access to the good microscope camera

I am coming up with Musca tempestiva for this female from Romania, using Manual of Central European Muscidae (Gregor et al 2016) due to bare eyes and proepisternum. The frontal vitta is wider than twice as wide as the fronto-orbital plate and the prothoracic spiracle is brown, ruling out M. autumnalis & M. larvipara

However when i look this species up the M. tempestiva flies look black and somewhat shiny, with a short abdomen, whereas mine is somewhat dull gold dusted.

Does anyone have any ideas from these photos?

Also, I've had a bit of uncertainty keying out the Musca genus, because the key splits at deflection of M vein being almost angular or mostly rounded. I would have said this vein is kind of rounded, not sharp, but the images in the key would call this angled. Have I understood that right? Does this M vein look okay for Musca?

Thanks so much in advance for any ideas!!
