Hello,
is it possible to say more to this Helophilus? Unfortunately I have only this one picture of it.
August 4, 2007, Arnschwang, Bavaria, Germany.

Regards
Ingrid

Since neither hind legs nor face is visible, it must remain as Helophilus sp. (m).

On closer examination, the right hind femur seems to be just visible beneath the right wing. There seems to be onlt a tiny spot of yellow at the tip. This would accord with male Helophilus hybridus which often have the sports on tergite 4 barely visible, as this one.

Thank you very much for your efforts Karsten! Then it is justifiable to archive the fly under Helophilus cf. hybridus. In attachment a detail of the femur.
