Thread subject: :: Chironomidae with banded wings

Please can somebody help me with the name?

It was found in Saragossa city, North East Spain, about 200 meters over sea, in an urban garden, 2nd November 2007.

It has been suggested to me to be Guttipelopia guttipennis, Zavrelimyia barbatipes and Thienemannimyia sp, but none of these seems convincing to me. This one have much darker and uniform wing bands.

Any hint please?

I would say this is OK for Zavrelimyia barbatipes - a bit darker than usual, but everything is in the right place.

Thanks a lot Tony, I will retain your confirmation then! Maybe the tune of the dark bands is variable within the species, or maybe is the light or camera settings :) Many thanks for the identification! :*
