Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Apple snail parasite fly
Posted by Walther Ishikawa on 21-12-2021 00:22
These pupae were found parasitizing aquarium Apple snail eggs ("Pomacea diffusa"), in the USA. Unfortuntely there are no pictures of the adult flies.
I didn´t find any mention of such behaviour in articles, only oportunistic parasitism with Phoridae, and some pictures with Psychidinae in the web. I am not even sure about the family, they reminded me some Ceratopogonidae, like "Forcipomyia".
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you very much!
