Found on the hind-leg of a local grasshopper (China mantispoides) [Orthoptera: Chorotypidae: Chininae]. I would be glad if the Genus name is known.

I don't think this is Ceratopogonidae. The venation looks more like Cecidomyiidae (perhaps tribe Micromyini)

What a surprise to learn that it is probably a Cecidomyiidae fly! Don't know its member can be an ectoparasite of a grasshopper.

The fly eats fungus. It appears to be stuck to a strand of spiderweb.
