This very strange little fly (5-7mm incl. wings), settled under a field maple leaf (Acer campestre). The photos are terrible, but the big claws, thick leg, and unusual shape might be enough for a family ID .It was in a row of mixed trees, on the side of a gravel road, next to a field with lots of Highlander cows.

Given the date, it should be L. cervi.
