Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Robber fly species?

Hello,

Hoping to get an ID on this please? Photo attached. Could it be Machimus cingulatus?

Found a couple of weeks ago Guernsey, Channel Islands. In coastal scrubland habitat.

Hi Al, I think Machimus (Tolmerus) cingulatus is correct. Resembling is M. cowini and difficult to distinguish but as we can see the posterior yellow stripe on forefemur it is most probably cingulatus.

Indeed T. cingulatus
