Dear all,
I found tese roughly 1cm small Bibio flys
on 09.05.2021 near Steinhuder Meer,
Lower Saxony along a sandy rodside.
Could it be Bibio marci?
Thanks in advance.
Best wishes
Alex

Hi Alex, it's not the black B. marci, I think, but I'm unable to tell the species from the photo. Do you have anther on to show the colour of the hairs on at least on thorax?

Greetings, Eric

I´v tried to change the image slightly, so maybe one can see the hair better now. I I found another view. Hope this helps.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Alex, the hairs seem to be not black. Together with the orange legs, the brownish wings and the length of metatarsus III being approx. 3 x width I thinks it may be Bibio cf. lanigerus.
