Hi Bart, more photos could be helpful - I guess it's a Abia sericea.

Greetings, Eric

Hi Bart, now I'm quite sure, it's a female Abia sericea. Are there any Succisa, Scabiosa or Knautia nearby? There you may find the larvae.

Greetings, Eric

Thank you a lot Eric, and apologies for the late response.

Yes, Scabiosa is quite common in the area. In this season we'll make sure to have them also in your backyard. It attracts a lot of other interesting insects.

Btw. From what I read, I know this species is overly rare in Poland. Does it have the same status in Germany? I'm just curious. Regard

Hi Bart, it seems, the Cimbicidae are generally quite rare here, too, an sericea is on the Red List in Bavaria. I have only found Abia fasciata twice (2015, 2018).
