Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Big Fly need ID, please

Found:Germany, Saxonia, Borsdorf near Leipzig, 6. July 2019

Hello,
today i found this fly in my garden. Maybe it is a Syrphidae, bau i`m not sure.
Can anybody help?

Hi Michael, you are right - the triangles on the back do not reach the base of the tergits as in bovinus - and it's a male.

however, it is the male of Tabanus autumnalis.
There are sublateral spots on the reddish sides present.
