Hello!

Can more be said about this 3 mm fly from Sept-16 (Ostwestfalen/Germany) than just Sepsis sp.? Thanks in advance!

I'd say Sepsis fulgens ?
Tarsi very clear, spot located in apical wing, wing venation fits.. but not sure, though.

Thanks! If you take a look at the picture URL, you will see, that this was my assumption, too ;). That species seems to be very abundant here, but I was also not sure.

That applies to a host of other Sepsis species as well...

I would not call 16 Spetember late autumn but late summer. ;)

Paul, maybe in Russia is really late autumn. :P lol

Chris can confirm that around 01 Sept it is always autumn in Russia :@
In second part of Sept in Moscow reg. (as well as in second part of Oct in Sochi region) very few Sepsidae are still active at my observations:
S.punctum, S.fulgens, N.nitidula...
