Hi,
this fly I saw on August 3rd, 2017 in the northern foothills of Vienna. It was about 5mm long, maybe shorter. I have not been able to identify it and would appreciate your help.
Best regards,
Konrad

I have not met every diptera in Europe, so I could be very wrong:
I think that the orange color is a result of reflection of light from the wings.

as for the fly, I have no idea which family.
eventually, some of the more knowledgeable members will have a look.
you may have to wait a few days...

Thanks, John and Nini,
I have also considered the possibility of a reflection, but a member in another forum mentioned that he had seen other specimen of this fly that looked just like it - so even if it was a reflection, it would be characteristic.
Best regards,
Konrad

I'm adding a more closeup section of my photo which may show more detail in better quality.

This fly is one of the Platypezidae. Yes the colours are reflective colours off the wing
