Looks like Empididae to me, but that is no certainty. :|

I like the first picture, showing the thrips hiding from a predatory fly in the only safe place -- on the fly.

Looks like Empis. The first picture shows forked R4+5.

:D I have a better photo of the thrips, but the fly came out far worse.

Okidoki, it is a good old Empis. Difficult lot. :|
