I photographed this fly on 24/03/2016 in Still bay region of South Africa around 5km from the coast. The fly is sitting on a lemon tree leaf. I looks like Musca autumnalis to me but it was quite large at around 9mm.

Thanks

Philip

There are about 40 described species of Musca in Africa, depending on how finely some species complexes are split. This is not domestica or sorbens.

Thanks John, I naively thought/hoped it would be easier! Thanks for confirming the genus!
