I believe this is Tachinidae? Can anyone suggest a genus? Sweeping over grass. Townsville, Queensland.

Compare your earlier Siphonini (family Tachinidae) and see if this is more of the same.

Thanks John. Can't find a match in my Siphonini gallery, but it sure looks like it belongs there. In the process of scanning the group I've noticed a feature that might be useful for me to differentiate. The spines on the legs are of different lengths. So must try and include a leg pic.

A lateral closeup showing katepisternum (next to mid leg) may help ID. Or you could send the fly to Theo.

A lookalike to watch out for is Campylocheta in Dexiinae. The American species have reclinate ocellar bristles and discals on abdomen.

The first idea was better.
Though I can be only sure if I see a closeup of the thorax from the side, I am pretty confident this is Peribaea.

THanks Graeme for all these efforts.

The crucial bristle I'd like to see is broken off.... Just our luck.

Nevertheless, it cries out Peribaea all over....
