Thread subject: Diptera.info :: A Fly from Malta

On a recent visit to Malta I was hoping perhaps for some interesting Syrphidae or Tephritidae but sadly only found familiar species from these families! This fly was perhaps the most distinctive of the others that I saw that I have not been able to identify. This was swept from low vegetation near the Mnajdra temples, Malta on 20 April 2014. Body length is c 6mm. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Alan
