Hi All,
I photographed a rather nice brown and yellowish Conopid in the south of France last week. I do not have any keys to European conopids, so does anyone have any idea what this fly might be? View here:

Looks like a Physocephela species to me - but beyond that I do not know.
Regards
Matt
PS - you do not need to add an attatchment if you have your pictuere up on a website (as you do already). At the appropriate point in the text where you want your picture to go, just click on the 'img' button and then paste the URL of your page/picture in between the two sets of {img}{/img} brackets (these will be [] in the real thing) and your picture will be put into your posting.

LoL, Matt just beat me to it. I was (webmaster's prerogative) just editing you post to display the image in your original message and was about to give the same guide lines. Thanks, Matt. :)

This is indeed a
Physocephala sp, a genus I currently have great problems with. With this coloration I would normally suggest the
abdominalis var of
P vittata (true status uncertain), but it is difficult to be sure. The wing markings and some other details don't look quite right to me. Jens-Hermann Stuke may have more of an idea.
