Any help with ID of this muscid fly, photographed by Tom Murray in Bolton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; date October 25, 2012
Attempted to key from specimen using Manual of Nearctic Diptera, and got to Brontaea, but I'm not sure. Distribution of setae on sternite 1 match as described for Brontaea.
If so, it would seem to be Brontaea humilis.
Some other features of B. humilis, noted in Carvalho & Pont's 1997 paper on new world Brontaea, all match: scutum of male dark-brown dusted, no vittae; dark calypters, and sunken parafacials all match, as do the setae on sternite 1 and setae on hind tibiae.

I think so, Gymnodia humilis (= Brontaea)
