Hi,
Some days ago I met this 5 mm Tachinid on a café window east of Berlin. It was quite active, though it had two black spots on the abdomen that looked problematic. Can it be named?
Thanks in advance, Sundew

Maybe Lypha dubia, but I am not an expert so please wait for a second opinion :)

Yes, that's a fair bet at this time of year :)

Big thanks to all of you! Once I got a name I searched the forum und found many threads and excellent pictures of
Lypha - the archive is really a treasure! If one just could keep in mind all the former identifications, they contain so much information. It's funny: when the flies start their active period, they appear in several threads immediately. We should make an illustrated chronology when to expect which (common) species, so one could check before posting a question :D.

This time of year the similar ones are
Lypha dubia,
Phorocera obscura &
Campylocheta praecox :) Others might include
Panzeria puparum and
Gymnocheta viridis :)
