Please, can someone identify the species of this fly? The picture is taken on 6th of October 2012 in Serbia.
Thanks.

Sarcophagidae.

Flesh flies of the subfamily Sarcophaginae are difficult to identify without seeing the male terminalia. In this case I take notice of three issues:
1) Male abdominal pattern not of the typical checker-board type but more towards a median stripe and lateral spots.
2) Male abdomen slightly more tapering (males of Sarcophaga spp. have a more parallel-sided abdomen).
3) Male terminalia red, and slightly smaller than 'typical' Sarcophaga spp.

This leads me to suggest Blaesoxipha (Servaisia) sp. These are grasshopper parasitoids.

Thanks for the explanation Thomas - I like the Sarcophaginae as a group and they make a good alternative to collect on bad tachinid days ;)
