This Bombylid species was caught at Tepi Bas, northern Cyprus on 29 March 2013. I think that it is perhaps Hemipenthes velutina but I would appreciate confirmation or correction of this identification by someone more experienced than I am.

Many thanks

Alan

Why not H. morio?
Best regards,

Many thanks Henrik. As I indicated I am no expert by a very long way and mine was only a speculative identification. At least I got the genus right!

I am not an expert either, so you may want to wait for an expert opinion!
(Still, I think it is H. morio;))

Looking at images of the two it looks a better bet than mine!
