The attached photo was taken on 26th June 2012 in a copsed woodland, mainly silver birch and chestnut, in South East England.

I'd be grateful if the identification could be confirmed or corrected

Welcome abroad Gordon. As I said, your record fits very nicely with others we have had for L. picta since it was added to the British list a few years ago. It also looks very similar to photos I have seen of picta but it would be nice to hear from the European experts who might have seen a few more of these than I have :)

The picture is too small for me, but it seems

* the tibiae are not red
* the humerus is not yellowish

... so picta is not too promising......
