This extremely tiny fly decided to develop a fixation with my laptop screen on 2nd February 2013, and so, I captured it with the intention of releasing it after photography. However, the specimen unfortunately died within 12 hours of capture. Though this means that I now have a specimen to mail to anyone who wishes to examine it, and has the requisite expertise to arrive at an ID.
Location: SJ491852. To be specific, my bedroom. :)
Date/Time: 2/ii/2013, approx 23:30 GMT
If anyone wishes for me to mail the specimen to them for analysis, I can do this. Bear in mind that I do not have access to professional laboratory facilities, so if I do mail the specimen, I'll have to improvise considerably in order to ensure that it arrives in a fit condition for analysis.
Specimen size: body length is approximately 2 millimetres.

Sphaeroceridae, somewhat broadened fore tibiae indicate it might be
Spelobia.

I'll see if the invertebrate zoology staff at Liverpool Museum can shed further light upon this. Thanks for the lead, I'll pass this on and see if they agree. Though it might take some time for them to provide feedback.

Well since there's been a staff change at Liverpool Museum, and their resident Dipterist has now retired, if you wish to PM me to exchange postal details, I could send you the specimen. :)
