Hi,

I found this Stratiomyidae this summer in south France.
I caught the specimen and identified it as Sargus, but to go further with the key i have (Seguy, in french) i need the head (and of course, i lost it in traveling :o)
Does someone know witch specie it could be? (This is my only picture of the specimen)

It is not cuprarius, because no dark spot on the wing. It is not bipunctatus, because the female S. bipunctatus looks much different. I do not think it is S. iridatus, because of the dark legs. So, I think (!) it is S. flavipes.

Ah, I like this question. I tell you I did not think for a moment about it. As far as I know it is only very, very rarely recorded. But to be honest I have never seen it. If you ever catch one....think of me. Yet, going back to this little fly....I still think it is flavipes, but I am very interested what others think about it.
