Is it possible to tell which family and genus this 3 mm fly is? It was found close to forest.

Photos from 15 june 2012 Nattsjön 62 N, E 17 Ångermanland, Sweden.

Thanks for your help in advance

Hello Kurt

yes - Lonchaeidae. With the very short antennae and silvered face and parafacials I would say that the specimen is a male of the genus Earomyia - I cant go further than that without looking at the genitalia. You don't by any chance still have the specimen? it would be useful to see for my checklist of Swedish Lonchaeidae

best wishes ....... Iain
