Thread subject: Diptera.info :: 2 Tabanidae Romania

These two Tabanidae were photographed this summer in Sulina, Romania (Danube delta).
Are they iD'able? (I've collected a few, so I can send to whoever is interested)

The female (upper one) is Hybomitra ciureai, no doubt.
Often found along greater rivers


The male was very big (18 mm plus), is that correct ?

Looks like Tabanus spodopterus or similar species (I cannot rule out prometheus).

Thank you very much. The male was indeed quite large.

Yes, especially the Tabanus can IDed without doubt if you collected it !
