I am afraid that I am not a diptera expert. Hopefully, someone can give me some pointers. The fly was taken in June 2011 in a garden with lots of trees. I am sure that it is a type of flesh fly.
Also, the arolium seems to be quite large on this fly. Is there a reason for that?
Cheers
Richard

Yes it is a Sarcophaga sp. but they can only be identified to species using the male genitalia.
