Is this fly from the Netherlands Suillia variegata? I think so, but I´m not totally sure! Eastern part of the Netherlands, august.

No, it is not variegata, Gerard. Not enough details for me to say which species it is.

I have to see bristles on the mesopleuron, pteropleuron, etc (forgive me old fashioned terms!), bristiles on scutellum. Do you see hairs on the underside of the scutellum?

Thanks Ruud and Andrzej, so it's in the Suillia similis group. Which species are in this group, and are there 'easy' characters to distinguish them with a binoculair?
