Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Eristalinus male or female?

is this Eristalinus a female? I've only found males so far, and the eyes here seem further apart, plus the dull black area on the abdomen is just a small spot

Yep generally males are holoptic

many thanks, these are the first pictures I've seen other than my own. A really delightful little fly that seems a bit neglected. Interesting pictures of aeneus as well, a female sepulchralis without thoracic stripes could be tricky
