I have been told that this looks like a rhagionidae. Is it possible to take it further towards species from the pictures? Was in a mothtrap in mixed habitat.

Might be Rhagio lineola, if the thorax is not striped but uniformly grey. If only the pics were better!

There is no stripes on the thorax. It is clearer on the original pics, but they blur up some when I try to get the files small enough to post. Thank you very much :)

Edit: I can't find any pictures of R. lineola that shows the little dark "drop" on the front of the wing. Is that significant?

You certainly refer to the brownish globose spots, not to the elongated black pterostigma. Well, these are the halters that show through the wings. The wing itself is clear here.
