Found at Little Ayre in marshy field..looked very blue to the naked eye,which was partly lost with camera flash.

No clear characters. Maybe Dolichopus caligatus.

Thanks Igor, that would be a new species for here, but not collected so will go down as a Dolichopus sp. for now.

In the review of Scottish Dollies I did a long time ago D. caligatus is noted as "Usually found in moorland habitats, often at the
edge of peaty lochans". which I guess would make it quite at home on Shetland

Plenty of moorland nearby and lochans, so yes Iain it should feel at home here, more so than humans of late with the weather we have had here (anybody from a warm country want to adopt me? (Almost house trained) |t
