To my eye this looked exactly like
Hydrophoria lancifer but on closer examination of the photo I see
1. The frons is yellow.
2. The tibiae are black.
3. There is only one pair of postsutural acrostichals instead of two.
4. M-cu crossvein is more strongly curved.
It was also in an unusual place, at the edge of a field instead of in the woods.
I couldn't get a lateral shot.

I think
H. lancifer is OK here. The all-yellow frons is just newness. It is hard to judge the colour of the tibiae at this angle - they would probably be more translucent in dorsal view. Do you have any other Hydrophoria species with black femora and a long pre-alar?
