This group of flies was building a nest (or so it seemed) on riceplants in a ricefield near mount Kelimutu at c.750m asl. At first I thought they were wasps.....
Does anybody know what species this is?? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think they are eating a bird dropping.

By general appearance they could also be Ulidiidae. If you change the title to Tephritoidea an expert may comment.

Bactrocera caudata (the two smaller ones) and probably Bactrocera cucurbitae (the larger ones).
