Medium/large male , rather slender, long legs, few tibial bristles ie. tibia 1= 1 pv/p; tibia2= 2 p; tibia3= 3 small a/v,1 a/d, 1 p/d – no pv apical. 4 strong marginal bristles on sternite 4 (in line with other weak bristles), 7 marginal bristles on tergite 4. No hairs below scutellum (unless truly minute). Dorsum strongly dusted pale grey with 4 brownish stripes. 3 post d/c; 2 pre d/c. No acrostichals except for pre-scutellar pair. 2prs scutellar marginals (apicals crossed).Pre-alar longer than 2nd notopleural. Sternopleurals 1:2. Palps black, mentum dusted. 6th vein reaches wing margin only as the slightest fold. Genitalia rather small?

Thanks Stephen, I did wonder (easy to say now!!) but it didn't ring any bells for me in the area of Muscidae either. I will try again and in the meantime change the title and see if anyone else can help.
