It's a diptera belonging to Tachinidae family, Cylindromyia genus.
Can you please give me the specific id?

Location: Caltanissetta, Central Sicily, Italy.
Altitude: 550 mt
Date: May, 20 th 2012

Cylindromyia is a pretty difficult genus.

This one looks like a male C. auriceps.

My only thoughts were "close to auriceps" but I find that they need very careful examination to achieve a confident ID ... but they are not difficult in the same sense as, Gymnosoma. :)

Chris is right, the species are clear, the features are not as plastic as in Gymnosoma but simply difficult to see on picture.
