Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Bibio anglicus or B. hortulanus ? (female)

Found this one in my garden, yesterday. I think it's either Bibio hortulanus or B. anglicus, but I would like confirmation, if possible.

Bibio hortulanus to me ;) Venation fits
hortulanus, not
anglicus. I don't know if this is true, but I think that those white hairs on the lateral of the thorax are present in
hortulanus and not in
anglicus.
Wait for Theo's opinion. He will tell you for sure :)

I would tend to agree -
anglicus is a small species too (like
johannis), while
hortulanus is larger :)

Thank you both! It clearly looks like this is most probably a
Bibio hortulanus. Nice to know that ;)

Yes, I do agree.
For this year, it is over with anglicus, it will be all hortulanus now.
