Hello,

I found the pupa under the bark of coniferous wood on 17.04.2012. The fly hatched out on 28.04.2012.
Location: Germany, east of Northrhine-Westphalia, mixed forest, 250 msm. Size of the pupa about 4 mm, size of the fly 4 mm without wings, 6 mm with wings.
Is it a Lonchaeidae? ID with genre possible?

Greetings, Konrad

Hi Konrad

Yes definitely a female of the genus Lonchaea - its a bit difficult to tell further than that! An end view of the puparia showing the two black "Horns" might be useful (left end of top photograph)

Hello Iain,

thank you very much for the ID.
Unfortunately I have no further photos from the pupa.
