Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Empididae ?

Small fly on an azalea flower taken at 3:1 FF. Taken today- South coast UK .
Looks like a small dance fly but not seen one with those odd front legs before.

I gather male Hilara sp. have these enlargements on the front legs but the proboscis seems different to the pictures in the gallery ?

yes, indeed, the metatars are so typical, in combination with the mouthparts, of course.
