Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Anthomyiidae: Pegomya?

I think this is Anthomyiidae, though I don't know how to rule out Muscidae for sure at this angle and it seems to fit images of Pegomya bicolor well... though I read that this is an autumnal species. Do they ever overwinter though...?

Pegomya looks right, but I doubt if it's P. bicolor. (These are very hard from photos, but I'd expect to see more setae on the hind tibia. There are other species that look similar). Do you have any more views?

Many thanks Stephen, good to know I got close on this, but I have no more angles to offer. It only hung around briefly to drink form a leaf high up in a bush so I only had a brief chance. I'll look out for it again, though.
