Many thanks Gabor !!! ;)

If I remember well my university cursus, Chironomidae, if they are abundant, are not a good sign for water quality ?

Or are they usually met in big rivers, independent of water quality ?

Thanks !!:)

Many species are sensitive to pollution, some tolerate pollution. Some are very abundant in polluted water bodies.

Oh, it's a new information to me ! Many thanks for your answers !! ;)

So what is called in french "indice biotique" (Biotic indice ?) should identify water larvae to species level to qualify water quality ? (sorry my cursus was in the 80's, a bit old for nowadays !! B))
