Simiilar images form Europe and USA have been posted here. I think this one is for the Tipulidae expert. Fairly distinctive species.

Beautiful species, can I have permission to use the image on my website, all my own photos are European it would add some nice diversity, I would put Copyright XXX on if you give me a name.

Sure, please feel free to use this image. Right now I have to reinstall my gallery as I was banned from my previous host for having too many files. This means that my Japan gallery may stay offline for an extended period of time.

Actually this is more likely to be a Limoniidae, somewhere near Epiphragma.
