This is a pic from 2011... is it also Eriothrix rufomaculata, please? What sex is it, and how can you tell?

Correct ID.
Female, from - eyes quite-well separated, insect appears 'fat-ish' and to me the last segment of the abdomen (the tip) looks too flat to contain male genitalia.
All these points will become easier to discern with experience taken from confirmed examples of yours.
