Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Nemotelus nigrifrons?

Hello,

this photo is from last april from a coastland in southeast Sicily. Some weeks ago I had another photo from this place, which was identified as Nemotelus nigrifrons. Is this too N. nigrifrons?

Sorry, this view is not really sufficient to reliably separate nigrifrons from pantherinus. For example, male pantherinus has white markings above the antennae, male nigrifrons patches of silvery white hairs. From this picture I cannot tell for certain whether this specimens has spots or patches of silvery white hairs (though I am inclined towards the latter).

Thank you for your answer Paul. Given that on the photos from three days earlier the white hairs are visible I will labe the pictures cf. nigrifrons.
